About C2PA.ai - Independent Content Provenance Resource

What we do

C2PA.ai is an independent educational and journalistic publication focused entirely on content provenance. We write comprehensive guides, maintain reference resources, track industry adoption, analyse regulatory developments, and provide practical implementation guidance - all focused on the C2PA standard and the broader content authenticity ecosystem.

Our content serves developers building C2PA integration, compliance teams navigating the EU AI Act, photographers and creators adopting Content Credentials, journalists implementing provenance in newsrooms, and business leaders evaluating content authenticity strategies.

We believe that content provenance is critical infrastructure for the internet - as fundamental as HTTPS, DNS, or TLS. We exist to make this infrastructure accessible, understandable, and useful to the people building and using it.

Independence

C2PA.ai is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), Adobe, Microsoft, or any of their member organisations.

We are an independent publication. We use the domain c2pa.ai because it describes our subject matter, not because we have any official relationship with the C2PA organisation. This is the same principle by which publications cover topics in their names - much like how tech publications cover the companies they name in their reporting.

Our editorial content is not influenced by any company, organisation, or sponsor. When we recommend tools, compare approaches, or assess implementations, we do so based on publicly available information and our editorial judgment. When content is sponsored, it is clearly labelled as such.

Our values

Honesty over advocacy
We cover C2PA because we believe it matters, not because we think it's perfect. We're honest about limitations, gaps, and criticisms of the standard and its ecosystem.
Practical over theoretical
Every guide includes actionable steps. Every analysis ends with what you should do about it. We write for people who need to implement, not just understand.
Accessible over exclusive
Content provenance affects everyone who encounters digital media. We write for technical and non-technical audiences with equal care. No unnecessary jargon.
Independent over affiliated
We accept no editorial direction from any company or organisation. Our analysis is our own. Sponsorship is clearly labelled and never influences editorial content.

Revenue

C2PA.ai generates revenue through newsletter sponsorship (The Provenance Brief), site sponsorship, consulting services (C2PA implementation guidance for enterprises), and sponsored content (clearly labelled). We do not run programmatic advertising. We do not sell user data. We do not accept payment for favourable coverage.

For sponsorship opportunities, see our Advertise page. For consulting services, see our Services page.

Corrections

We strive for accuracy in all our content. If you find an error - factual, technical, or otherwise - please contact us immediately. We will correct the error, note the correction at the bottom of the affected page, and credit you (if you wish) for bringing it to our attention.

Content provenance is a rapidly evolving field. Firmware versions change, platform features launch and sunset, regulations are amended. We update our guides regularly but cannot guarantee that every detail is current at every moment. Dates on each page indicate when it was last reviewed.
